Lake Fork is a reservoir located in Wood, Rains, and Hopkins counties in East Texas. It was created in 1980 by damming the Lake Fork Creek, a tributary of the Sabine River. The lake covers an area of 27,690 acres and has a maximum depth of 70 feet. Lake Fork is famous for its excellent bass fishing. It is home to numerous large-mouth bass, and has produced many state and world record catches. Its reputation as a trophy bass lake has attracted anglers from around the world. The lake also offers opportunities for boating, skiing, tubing, and kayaking. There are several boat ramps and marinas located around the lake, as well as camping and picnic areas. Wildlife viewing and birding are popular activities at Lake Fork, as the area is home to a variety of wildlife, including white-tailed deer, bobcats, and bald eagles.
